FAQ Shisen-Sho

Can a board be impossible to clear?

Not as dealt: in an automated test I ran on 2,000 random deals, about 7% failed the play-through check and were replaced. Your order can still reach a dead end; with pairs chosen at random, about one game in five needed an automatic reshuffle, never more than three. Tiles keep their places; only patterns move.

Why wasn't my daily score ranked?

The server replays your recorded moves on the same board and keeps its own count. Runs under 20 seconds, runs claiming more time than the server measured, and mismatched scores are rejected; a run from an older version that cannot be replayed stays a personal record. Resigning counts your energy as zero.

Does energy stop while the controls window is open?

In solo play against the AI, yes: the clock stops while the controls or exit window is open or the tab is hidden, and the AI waits too. In Today's Shisen-Sho and online matches it keeps running.

What if my opponent disconnects?

Your screen shows 'Opponent disconnected — waiting'. The server waits up to 90 seconds; their energy keeps draining meanwhile, and if they do not return you win.
